Hardwood Floor Drying

Hardwood floor Drying

Once it has been determined that the floor can be salvaged by in-place drying, the first step is to determine a dry goal for the hardwood and sub-floor  Directing warm dry air under and between the boards, is the most effective way to dry the hardwood. The wood is considered dry when:
  • Hardwood and sub-surfaces are within 2-4 percentage points of normal EMC. ( Equilibrium moisture content)
  • Sub-surfaces below hardwood are dried to within 2-4 percentage points of the hardwood.
After the wood flooring has been dried to an acceptable moisture level, It is important to remind people to allow sufficient acclimation time before the floor is refinished.
