Ding Dongs
A Ding Dong is a chocolate cake that is sold by Hostess Brands. It is round with a flat top and bottom, about three inches in diameter and a little more than an inch high, similar in shape to a hockey puck. A white creamy filling is injected into the center, and a thin coating of chocolate glaze covers the entire cake. The cake was originally wrapped in a square of thick aluminium foil, enabling it to be carried in lunches without melting the chocolate glaze.

The Ding Dong is similar to other cream-filled cakes, such as Arcade Vachon's Jos. Louis introduced before 1934 and still in production.[1] Hostess began marketing its Ding Dong in 1967. The name was given to coincide with a television ad campaign featuring a ringing bell

The company marketed the snacks on the East Coast as Big Wheels, to avoid confusion with the Ring Ding, a similar (and pre-existing) treat by Drake's Cakes. The names were consolidated in 1987, when a short-lived merger of Drake's with Hostess' parent company (then Continental Baking Company) briefly resolved the Ring Ding/Ding Dong conflict. When the merged company broke up, however, Hostess was forced to cease, once again, using the Ding Dongs name in areas where Ring Dings were available. The compromise sound-alike name King Dons lasted until Interstate Bakeries Corporation, which had recently merged with Hostess' parent company, bought Drake's in 1998. The Hostess product is now sold under the name Ding Dongs throughout the United States. However, the snack is still sold as the King Don in Canada.

Hostess created the King Ding Dong cartoon character to advertise the Ding Dong: an anthropomorphized Ding Dong sporting a crown and sceptre. He was similar to other Hostess characters Twinkie the Kid and Fruit Pie the Magician. Where King Dons were marketed, the character, like the product, was known as King Don. In areas that used the Big Wheel name, the character was an Indian chief named "Chief Big Wheel."

Fall is coming fast, see the view from home of the Park City water job

Week long job at Park City area home with very long days, now into demolition phase. At the end of the day we do have this view to enjoy.

Middle of week happenings.

Middle of the week, a couple of our crews returned from Ely after a two day job. Some had luck at a casino others just went back to hotel to rest.

New fire job began this week keeping people busy, finishing up on the water mitigation job in Park City ( Deer Valley).

It's funny how it seems some times the phone will not stop ringing (all lines) when only one person is in the office. When a several people are here, the calls slow down. We do like getting all the calls, talking with new and current customers.

One call I don't like is when they ask if I'm an administration assistant that can approve a FREE subscription to some magazine that we are receiving. Sounds like a set up but the guy say, we have to ask these questions this way...blah..blah...yada, yada, yada.

Ho'\w's your day going?

Today-Wednesday September 21, 2011

Last day of  Summer is here, where did the time go? Another Summer gone by and this blogger did not make it to Zion-angles landing or to Las Vegas to see BlueMan group. This Fall may be a good time to go with room rates slashed, the only big cost would be gas. The airlines have cut their flights and doubled ticket prices.

So What have I learned this short summer?

  1. Unexpected disasters can happen to anyone. A broken water line to a dishwasher, over flowed toilet ( Ok that may not sound correct) a backed up toilet, kid's filling the window well with water for a pool.
  2. Fire!!!! overheated oil, gas leak- whatever the cause is not an easy time.
  3. cleaning up a messing with a shop vac to only make the situation worse when the Vac blows everything around the entire house.
We at ServiceMaster of Salt Lake are here to help, with fast  response time (usually within 1 to 2 hours)
our trained certified technicians  will be there to help with water extraction, mold remediation, water damage mitigation.  Fire clean up and pack out.

We also have the best carpet & upholstery cleaning teams in Salt Lake & Utah counties.

Start of a new week at ServiceMaster of Salt Lake.

A lot of activity last week in office and for our crews. Training day Thursday went well, Fire pack out and content cleaning continued.  Our office manager took a few days off to take a nephew to Disneyland for his 8th birthday ( all boy-did not want to walk through Cinderellas castle ).

For this week, Nate (son of our owners) left for Zambia on a 2 year church mission. Heard it's a 44 hour journey with several lay overs before he arrives there.

This blogger needs to get his car in for service so he can take a short trip to the parks in So. Utah.

Carpet and upholstery cleaning is one thing you can do to freshen up your home for Fall.

Did the kids turn on the tub to play with their boats and left the water running and now you need help to clean up the mess, get the water out of the carpets and everything else fried out.

From  ServiceMaster Clean®   home site.

No other item in your home absorbs more and can affect the appearance of your home like your carpets.

To maintain your carpets appearance, your carpets should be professionally cleaned every six to twelve months. Our exclusive carpet cleaning process includes:
  • Preliminary inspection of your carpets to determine the best cleaning method
  • Pre-treatment of spots and stains
  • Pre-application of cleaning products to loosen ground-in soil
  • Rinsing your carpet with clear hot water
  • Post-treatment of any residual stains
  • Carpet grooming for efficient drying and a uniform appearance
  • Placing pads under furniture legs to protect the carpet while it dries
  • Final inspection with you to ensure your complete satisfaction

At ServiceMaster of Salt Lake and ServiceMaster Cleaning (Utah County)  we are committed to the above when coming into your home to clean your carpets.
