wood floor cupping
Water Damage to Hardwood floors.
Cupping and crowning of hardwood flooring results from moisture content differences between the top and bottom of the board. Cupping will generally be the first indication of abnormal moisture levels as the bottom of the board absorbs moisture. The bottom of the board will then expand, bending the edges of the board upward and creating a cupped appearance. Cupping is not permanent damage, and should be dried in most cases. (RSA)
