Desiccant Dehumidifiers.

Desiccant dehumidifiers utilize chemical attraction instead of condensation to remove water from the air. Because they are not limited by low dew point temperatures and when used properly they produce the lowest vapor pressure of any dehumidifier.

Desiccant dehumidifiers have many applications in restorative drying, but they are most commonly used to dry dense materials such as hardwood floor.

Desiccants do not collect water in a pan for automatic pump-out instead , they produce damp reactivation air, which must be vented outside the structure using temporary ducting. In some situations this venting results in a pressure differential in the drying area.

Kathy and Bob Fairbanks have been involved with PJ's Forgotten Children for over 13 years. Kathy has been serving as Vice President since 2003. Their involvement has helped children all over the state have a Christmas that otherwise would not be possible from the contributions of private businesses and individuals. PJ's is a non-profit organization dedicated to bring joy, comfort and dignity to those who suffer from the effects of Mental Illness. PJ's started in 1986 when it was discovered that the number of attempted suicides among the mentally ill because they could not provide Christmas for their children. Along with her many responsibilities here at ServiceMaster of Salt Lake, every year Kathy takes on the task of organizing, purchasing and accepting donations, distributing presents to children throughout the valley. Cracked toilet tanks lead  to flooding.  The tank won't fill up because  the shut off  valve will never close without  the tank filling up properly.

A lot of water loss can occur in a very short time.

Hardwood floor Drying #2

Once it has been determined that the floor can be salvaged by in-place drying, the first step is to determine a dry goal for the hardwood and subfloor. Directing warm dry air under and between the boards, is the most effective eay to dry the hardwood. The wood is considered dry when:  

• Hardwood and sub-sufaces are within 2-4 percentage points of normal EMC. ( Equilibrium moisture content)
• Sub-sufaces below harwood are dried to within 2-4 percentage points of the harwood.

After the wood flooring has been dried to an acceptable moisture level, It is important to remind people to allow sufficient acclimation time before the floor is reinished.
