Water extraction.
All extraction tools rely upon the principle of airflow through the affected carpet and underlay in order to remove water. for example: High negative pressures are created by the vacuum equipment, whether portable or truck mounted. Hoses usually 2" in diameter are then used to connect the vacuum equipment to an extraction tool. Airflow through the tool and hose removes water from the material and carries it to the water tank.

Reporting Water Damage..things to note
When reporting a water disaster a few things to keep in mind that you should report.
1. Origination (what is the source of water)
2. Water Cleanliness (water from a dishwasher or ice maker line, over flow from a toilet )
3. The extent of Water Damage ( how far has it migrated, has it wicked up the walls )
4. Have you done anything to clean up (mitigate) before calling. What?
Always remember the first concern (after stopping the water at source-if possible) should always be your health and safety.

Fall and Winter preperations
Good morning Salt Lake, sitting here watching the cloudy skies. There was a little bit of rain this morning and over night so I'm wondering if the clouds may produce some new snow as they move over the Wasatch range.
Weekend should warm up, giving you time to finish up yard work before the first real snow storm blows through.
Fall season is here, time to turn off the sprinkler system, button up the swamp cooler, check the furnace.
With cooler weather coming and the need to heat your home, are your ducts clear and clean? If not, give us a call. Make sure all your vents are clear of dust and lint, change the air filter.
Turn off and bleed the water line to your swamp cooler.
Join in the conversation, and your suggestions for winter time preparations.

Water Damage to Hardwood floors.
Cupping and crowning of hardwood flooring results from moisture content differences between the top and bottom of the board. Cupping will generally be the first indication of abnormal moisture levels as the bottom of the board absorbs moisture. The bottom of the board will then expand, bending the edges of the board upward and creating a cupped appearance. Cupping is not permanent damage, and should be dried in most cases. (RSA)

Ozone treatment for odor
An ozone generator will not only remove pet odors but other troublesome odors caused by mold and mildew, fire, water damage and others. Ozone is considered "natures deodorant" and can get rid of many types of nasty smells
What does Ozone smell like..... think of after a rain & lightning storm..like pictured below. That clean smelling fresh air that lingers.
When the odor problem is severe a professional will do what is known as a "shock treatment". A shock treatment will introduce a highly concentrated burst of ozone into a larger area. When a shock treatment is done people, pets, and even plants can not remain as the ozone in such high quantities can be a health hazard.
In disaster restoration services we will will use ozone treatment to remove odor for everything from clothes to furniture.

The Four "Knows of Drying"
While on a water loss job, and drying process begins. We have to ask----
Four question that Summarize the information that must be obtained , documented and evaluated throughout the restorative drying process. When left unanswered, these questions are the source of the most common deficiencies in inspection and documentation. The four key questions, or "knows," of dying are:

- What's wet?
- How wet is it?
- Is it drying?
- Is it done?
