ServiceMaster Disaster Restoration Specialists Mobilized on the East Coast to Help Hurricane Irene Victims Recover
Hurricane Irene, which battered 12 states along the East Coast, brought torrential rains and powerful winds, stretching 300 miles from the center at one point. Even before the storm made U.S. landfall Saturday, the disaster restoration experts from ServiceMaster Clean had positioned teams of techs as well as pallets of products, truck mounts, trailers and drying equipment in strategic locations across the Northeast. All with the goal of using the power of yellow to simplify and improve the quality of their customers’ lives at a time when they were needed the most. The advance mobilization and preparation allowed them to immediately respond and assist storm victims by assessing the damage in their homes and businesses and helping to contain and remove the water damage from the flooding.
In a massive deployment of both ServiceMaster Clean and ServiceMaster Recovery Management franchise businesses, nearly 450-500 owners, managers, crew leaders and techs began converging on the Northeast from points as far away as California. As soon as the hurricane moved through the North Carolina area on Saturday, the teams were able to immediately begin responding to calls and insurance claims for cleanup and restoration efforts. While the full extent of the damage from Hurricane Irene is not yet known, early analyst estimates have put it upwards of $5-$7 billion, with insured losses of $2 billion to $3 billion dollars.
Extra personnel are working in the Memphis call center to help answer phones and capture leads. Customer information and claims are then communicated to the Clean Machine dispatch team who will assign a crew to manage the job and arrange for distribution of products and equipment. The bright yellow, 53’ foot long “Clean Machine” is totally self-contained and comes complete with sleeping quarters for 24 and 18 satellite-powered phone/computer workstations and Internet connections. It is parked in a Lowe’s parking lot in Danbury , CT where it is serving as the central command operations center for ServiceMaster’s Hurricane Irene DR efforts and meeting place for owners who have come to help.
Irene was the first hurricane to make landfall in the continental United States since 2008, but ServiceMaster Clean has been helping people get their lives back on track and restoring peace of mind following such catastrophes for more than 60 years. We provide a nationwide single-source solution for residential, commercial disaster restoration, reconstruction services and large loss claims. As the experts in disaster restoration, the professionals from ServiceMaster Clean are trained on how to recognize and prevent the spread of potentially toxic mold in homes and commercial businesses following a hurricane.
